Unleash The Archers release new music video for ‘Northwest Passage’

UNLEASH THE ARCHERS have released a new music video!

The new music video, for the track Northwest Passage, is taken from the band’s upcoming new EP Explorers which is scheduled to be released in October. The original song was written and performed by Canadian musician Stan Rogers.

Speaking about the song, the band says, “this song means a lot to us as a band, we like to put it on during those long drives on tour and it always brings us right back home. We originally recorded it to be a bonus track for our last full length album Apex, but we loved the track so much we knew it needed special treatment. We held on to it for a bit and eventually decided to release it as its own 7″ vinyl EP with another Canadian cover song as the B side. The song Northwest Passage is all about touring through Canada, which Stan Rogers did a lot, and how it equates to being an explorer looking for the passage all those years ago. It really hits home with us, we’ve toured through Canada too many times to count, so we know just how Stan was feeling. That’s where the name of the EP came from too; every time we hit the road on tour it’s like we too become Explorers, with the great big unknown stretching out before us.”

Continuing to speak about the music video, the band adds, “this song is about touring across Canada, and equating it with being on those early expeditions that sought the Northwest Passage hundreds of years ago. Stan Rogers, who wrote and recorded the original, imagined that in another life he himself may have been an explorer, braving the unknown to satisfy a deep-seated need for danger and excitement. We took his words and put a bit of a sci-fi spin on them… What if in another life UTA had never existed? What if the band had different members? What would change if we were just friends and never bandmates? What if those timelines converged?… What follows is a video of infinite possibilities, infinite universes smashing into one another and battling for prominence. Which timeline is true? Which UTA will win? Is it the UNLEASH THE ARCHERS you know and love, or perhaps something a bit more sinister? You’ll have to watch and find out!”
