Zand announces new EP ‘SEWERSTAR’
ZAND has announced a new EP!
Titled SEWERSTAR, the upcoming EP from the self-described ‘ugly pop-star’ is the follow-up to 2020’s Ugly Pop EP and is scheduled to be released in September this year, via self-release.
Alongside the announcement of the new EP, the artist has released a new song from the upcoming EP; Deliverance. The new song is the latest single to be released from the upcoming EP, following on from DTF, Battery Acid, I Spit On Our Grave, and Religion, all of which will appear on the upcoming EP.
Speaking about the new song, ZAND says, “Deliverance sees the narrator caught in a maniacal spiral into depravity, hellbent on retribution. A satirical chronicle exploring the dynamics and consequences of of exploitation, paranoia, stalking and reactive abuse. ‘Fuck around and find out’ Sonically, Deliverance is inspired heavily by the theatrically laced emo and nu-metal bands I listened to in my teens, like MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, THE USED etc. The dark cabaret/polka elements were undeniably influenced by bands like THE DRESDEN DOLLS, and even film scores like Danny Elfman’s work in The Nightmare Before Christmas had a hand in its birth. Instrumentally I’m harnessing these showy elements and multiple BPM changes to represent the histrionic build up of the story along with the upwards unravelling of its narrator, towards its inevitable climax.”
