PREMIERE: Swamp People – Fire At The Plantation House
We here at Distorted Sound are delighted to premiere a brand new music video from FIRE AT THE PLANTATION HOUSE!
The new music video, for the track Swamp People, is taken from the upcoming debut album from the San Francisco-based one-person progressive death metal project, which is scheduled to be released in May this year.
Speak about the track, the project’s sole member John Angel comments, “I love bluegrass and country in addition to metal and Swamp People is my fusion of these genres. There’s a tradition of virtuosic guitar playing in both country and bluegrass and so I crammed all the ‘hot licks’ I know into the guitar solo on the track. I had a lot of fun putting together the vocal harmonies on this track too. A bunch of friends came out to help me shoot this video and we just partied in the pond at Alemany Farm in San Francisco, CA! 100% of proceeds from sales of this record and related merch will go to the Feed the People Collective, a Black-led, grassroots mutual aid group focused on providing free meals and culinary knowhow to poor people in SF.”

Written during the uprisings in response to George Floyd’s murder at the hands of police, FIRE AT THE PLANTATION HOUSE‘s debut album Southampton Insurrection attempts to lyrically draw parallels between those uprisings and Nat Turner’s Rebellion as well as wrestle with what it is to be a person of privilege wanting to contribute to liberatory movements but is unsure how.
