Sugar Horse release new songs ‘What’s Your ETA? Let’s Have A Tear Up and ‘Would You Like Me To Be The Cat?’
SUGAR HORSE have released two brand new songs!
The Bristol-based experimental outfit have returned with not one, but two new tracks released in quick succession via Fat Dracula Records.
First up is the sprawling 11-minute What’s Your ETA? Let’s Have A Tear Up, which dropped on November 18th, followed by the latest offering Would You Like Me To Be The Cat?, released on November 20th. Both new singles comes of the back of last year’s The Grand Scheme Of Things.
Speaking about What’s Your ETA? Let’s Have A Tear Up, the band says, “since 1948 the Israeli state has illegally subjugated the peoples of Palestine. Stealing/occupying their land and treating them as worse than second class citizens. Since 2023 they have conducted a genocide the likes of which cannot even be fathomed. Unbridled suffering and death has been inflicted on these proud and courageous people, and our government is selling the weapons to the people conducting said genocide. They’re helping them commit these fucking horrendous crimes.
It disgusts us more than words can adequately describe and it fills us with a kind of despair that is unfightable. However, the bravery of the Palestinian people in the face of these horrors is something that I am utterly stunned by on a daily basis. Those who have been subjected to so much, and are still willing to push through. To find joy and love where they can. This song is for them and we would like to ask those who enjoy our music—to some degree at least—and who want to compensate us for these new tunes, to instead direct this help and these funds towards the people of Palestine. Please donate what you can to UNWRA: HERE. Free Palestine.”

Discussing Would You Like Me To Be The Cat?, the band adds, “sometimes you’ve just gotta pretend to be THE CURE, and there’s no better time than the present. We wanted to come back with something new and something grand. We’ve kind of done the whole ‘Endless Space Doom’ thing to death at this point, so time to open a new chapter and I think with both of these tunes you can see little peaks of the ideas we have in store for folks in the coming years.
Lyrically this song is about how confusing this silly and terrible world we live in is. How living at the centre of Empire can make you feel crazy/ill/abhorrent, simply for believing things that are morally righteous, or even just factually true. Good people are smeared with shit every day for simply stating what they believe to be just. It’s a terrible world, but we have each other, and I hope that’s enough.”
