Gåte announce new album ‘Sigil’
GÅTE have announced a brand new album!
Titled Sigil, the upcoming release from the Norwegian folk-rock band is set for release on September 25th via Season Of Mist. The record marks the band’s debut album for the label and follows 2021’s Nord.
Recorded at MagnuStudio and Øra Studio, the album was produced by Kristian Fanavoll Tvedt and guitarist Magnus Børmark, before being mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios. Described as the band’s most internationally focused release to date, the ten-track record explores themes of enchantment, prophecy, mortality, dissolution, and renewal through Nordic folklore and ancient legends. The album’s first single, Sannsiger, featured guest vocals from Maria Franz of HEILUNG.
Alongside the announcement, the band have released the new single, Oskorsreia. The new song is the second single to be released from the upcoming album, following on from Sannsiger. Speaking about the track, the band shares, “we are dying to immerse people in this soundtrack of Oskorsreia aka The Wild Hunt, – this entourage of ghouls and half-deads, eating, consuming but never to be satiated. We played this song live throughout Europe, and it is already a live-favourite.”
Watch the official music video for Oskorsreia here:
Inspired by the Nordic legend of The Wild Hunt, Oskorsreia blends Hardanger fiddle, electric guitars, and layered programming into a relentless folk-rock anthem, while its accompanying video was filmed in the forests of Trondheim by director Maja Holand.
