Gloo announce new album ‘How Not To Be Happy’
GLOO have announced a new album!
Titled How Not To Be Happy, the upcoming album from the South Coast three piece rock band is their brand new full-length album and is scheduled to be released in August this year, via Hassle Records. The announcement of the new album comes on the back of the release of singles Big Smoke and Down, both of which will appear on the new album.
The album was recorded with producer Jag Jago [THE MACCABEES, JAMIE T, THE GHOST OF A THOUSAND] across the summer of 2020, in-between local lockdowns, travel bans and COVID-19 restrictions.
“I read a lot of self-help books myself, trying to look for ways to make myself happier,” says guitarist/vocalist Thomas Harfield. “But people don’t read one self-help book and then they’re fixed; they constantly read them – so maybe they don’t work at all! That made me think, Well, if you can’t learn how to be happy, maybe you can learn how not to be happy. I wrote these songs because I wanted to figure things out in my life. It’s an album for tearing shit up, having a good time, and forgetting about the world.”
Alongside the announcement of the new album, the band have released a new music video for a new song lifted from the upcoming album; Ride. Speaking about the new song, Thomas continues, “it couldn’t be better timing for this song to finally come out. Lockdown is coming to an end, summer is almost here and everyoneʼs ready to get outside again, skate, get fucked up, dance and… Ride!”
