ALBUM REVIEW: All We Have – Prospective

Since their debut in 2016 Italian metalcore outfit PROSPECTIVE have been going from strength to strength, sharing the stage with the likes of BETRAYING THE MARTYRS and NORTHLANE on their journey. A new decade has arrived which also welcomes their triumphant return in the form of All We Have which is due for release on January 17th via Long Branch Records. Can this release get 2020 off to a flying start?

PROSPECTIVE don’t trifle with pleasantries as the roaring energy of Kill Me gets things underway with boisterous bass lines and piercing screams. The intensity ebbs and flows as the chorus takes the edge off the building aggression.  Alone I Stand opens in dramatic fashion with a tense yet alluring demeanour. The musicianship feels more restrained but in turn provides an emotive and engaging piece with the chorus lines being a particularly infectious highlight. Liar throws various twists and turns into proceedings with calming sections closely followed by further rounds of crushing riffs.

Against All Odds gets the blood pumping with it’s crunchy riffing and enticing blend of sharp screams and soaring melodies. Atmospherics cleverly combine with an overarching heaviness to keep the momentum flowing. All We Have keeps you on your toes with its groove injected technicality and bouncy tempo. Intricate drum sequences and jabbing guitar work lead the way supported by subtle melodies swarming around the perimeter. Losing Control proves to be quite the curve ball introducing staggered stages of ambience before surging forth with short bursts of energy.

Dust And Memories continues the energetic tempo as drum beats emphatically pulse throughout. The vocals possess a soothing quality that are an ideal accompaniment to the punchy instrumentation. Nobody’s Safe dials up the aggression with swift riffing and venomous screams. Disobey will get your head bobbing along with the waves of expertly executed guitar sections. A thunderous breakdown towards the latter stages adds the exclamation point.  Battlefield ensures the album finishes with a flourishing high as skilful leads and another instance of addictive vocal work assists in enhancing the track.

All We Have ticks all the right boxes with its exhilarating blend of melody and vigorous energy. The tracks are strong enough to stand as their own entities and will prove to be an ideal arsenal to fetch with them on the road. The benchmark has been set at an impressive standard and it will be intriguing to see whether this release stands the test of time as the year progresses.
