Damnation Festival reveal eight bands for 2022

Damnation Festival have announced the first eight bands for 2022’s festival!

With 2021’s festival (featuring a stacked up of the likes of CARCASS, PARADISE LOST, GODFLESH, CONJURER and more) selling out months in advance, the annual one day metal extravaganza has been a staple in the UK festival circuit year after year.

After 15 years at Leeds University Union, for next year, Damnation will return to Manchester for a much larger event at the 6,000 capacity BEC Arena in November 2022. Leading the charge in today’s announcement is US industrial metal outfit MINISTRY and hardcore legends CONVERGE will co-headline the event whilst German thrashers DESTRUCTION, grind masters PIG DESTROYER and doom outfit PALLBEARER join next year’s billing. Also confirmed are Canadian deathcore band DESPISED ICON, American thrashers TOXIC HOLOCAUST and the long-awaited appearance of progressive stoner rockers ELDER.

Speaking about performing at next year’s festival, MINISTRY‘s Al Jourgensen says, “after not being able to perform for so long I am excited to say that MINISTRY will be playing Damnation 2022. We cannot wait to share some old tunes and new tunes and rock live again with all of you.”

Festival organiser Gavin McInally adds, “we left Manchester 15 years ago after we’d outgrown the venue, so it’s quite surreal to be returning, in an arena, armed with no less than MINISTRY and CONVERGE co-headlining and a bill already stacked with some very special performances. PIG DESTROYER agreeing to come back after they had to scrap their headline set this year was a huge coup, while DESTRUCTION and PALLBEARER were also hugely popular when they played previously. TOXIC HOLOCAUST, DESPISED ICON and ELDER offer a fresh and diverse mix of styles to the day and we have so much more in store for 2022. This year’s event sold out nine months in advance, and we currently have more than 1,000 fans on the waiting list. If we experience that same level of support for next year, Damnation will become Europe’s biggest indoor metal festival. As a thank you, we’ve frozen ticket prices at £55 until the end of the month, or they sell out, whichever one comes first!”
