Damnation Festival reveal eight new bands

Damnation Festival have announced eight new bands for this year’s festival!

Spearheading the charge in tonight’s announcement is British extreme metal legends CARCASS, who perform at the festival in a UK exclusive show, whilst PARADISE LOST will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Gothic by performing the album in its entirety. Also confirmed is WINTERFYLLETHURNEEVILEPARTY CANNONMAN MUST DIE and CRYPTIC SHIFT.

The newly announced bands replace the remaining American bands including the likes of PIG DESTROYERBLOOD INCANTATIONINCANTATIONWOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM and more, who have unfortunately withdrawn from the festival due to the ongoing restrictions surrounding international travel in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking about the latest announcement, festival organiser Gavin McInally says, “it was always our fear that even if we were able to host an event this year, the Americans might not be able to join us and as the situation worsens in some states across the pond, it just wasn’t worth putting people at risk. But to be able to convince CARCASS to play their first, and only, show in the UK in 2021, with a new record on the horizon was incredible. And PARADISE LOST agreeing to celebrate the stunning Gothic at Damnation, 30 years since its release, was also a major coup for the festival.

We asked our fans, who’ve stuck by us throughout the pandemic and sold the event out months ago, who they’d like to see and WINTERFYLLETH, MAN MUST DIE, PARTY CANNON, EVILE, CRYPTIC SHIFT and URNE were all hugely in demand. Of course, full refunds are available who want them. We also understand there will be massive frustration with some CARCASS and PARADISE LOST fans in particular who will be desperate to get in, so we hope between the refunds, and our lengthy waiting list, we can all get a result.”

PARADISE LOST adds, “with Gothic turning 30 this year, we wondered what we might be able to do to celebrate. The restrictions were making it look like nothing would happen, but then Damnation approached us and asked if we would like to do the Gothic album in its entirety. It’s a great opportunity for us to celebrate Gothic‘s release – and in Yorkshire too.”
