Dimmu Borgir announce new covers album ‘Inspiratio Profanus’

DIMMU BORGIR have announced a new covers album!

Titled Inspiratio Profanus, the upcoming album from the Norwegian black metal features a collection of their cover songs and is scheduled to be released in December this year, via Nuclear Blast Records.

The new covers album comes on the back of last year’s remixed and remastered Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia and 2018’s Eonian.

Speaking about the covers album, guitarist Silenoz says, “we’re pleased to announce the Inspiratio Profanus release! We thought it was about time to finally compile the cover songs we’ve done over the years and give these renditions an updated mastering, all in one package, highlighting some of our many influences!”

Alongside the announcement of the new covers album, the band have released a new song from the upcoming album; a cover of VENOM‘s Black Metal. Speaking about the cover, Silenoz says, Black Metal, the track and its origin, features something really primeval, raw and unhinged. There is lawlessness and danger connected to it. We did our best to capture the spirit of the ancient gods’ rock ’n roll 24 years later. Did we do it justice? I think so.”
