FESTIVAL PREVIEW: Risefest 2022

The summer festival season might have closed the book on a largely successful full return post-pandemic, but as we prepare to enter the colder temperatures of Autumn and Winter, for those still yearning for days jam-packed of live music, there is still plenty of events to get giddy about. Enter Risefest. The North East of England is not an area one would seek out for alternative music festivals and as such, Risefest arrives to answer the call.

Spread across two stages at Newcastle’s Northumbria Students’ Union, Risefest boasts a lineup of heavy hitters and a crop of fresh emerging talent to cater to alternative music fans’ taste buds. The energetic FRANK CARTER AND THE RATTLESNAKES top the bill in what will surely be a high octane and adrenaline surging set whilst CREEPER will showcase a one of a kind, exclusive The Weeping Widow set, on the festival’s main stage which promises to be an utter spectacle.

Riding high with the wind in their sales, STATIC DRESS arrive to Risefest to continue their meteoric rise whilst a double-whammy of BOSTON MANOR and VUKOVI will build momentum for their upcoming albums (Datura and NULA respectfully) which both will be unleashed in October. If high-octane riffs tickle your fancy, then HIGHER POWER and DEATH BLOOMS warrant your attention, just have a neckbrace on standby!

Arguably though, the biggest draw of Risefest is in its namesake; showcasing some of the most exciting bands emerging in alternative music. From the striking CASSYETTE, pop-rock darlings AS DECEMBER FALLS, post-hardcore duo MODERN ERROR or rock-meets-synthwave hybrid LEBROCK; there is a wealth of talent on offer this Saturday.

Rounding up the bill are SUPERLOVEMOTHERLANDHOMETRUTHRITUALSZAND and KIDPUNK; to ensure that the day’s action kicks off with a bang. If alternative music is your jam, and you love discovering new talent, Risefest is the place to be this weekend!
