Fortress Festival reveal first headliner for 2027
Fortress Festival have announced the first headliner for next year’s event!
EMPEROR have been announced as the first headliner for the fifth anniversary of the festival, set to take place on May 29th–30th, 2027 at Scarborough Spa in North Yorkshire.
The Norwegian black metal pioneers will deliver a UK exclusive performance at the event, marking their only appearance in the country throughout 2027. The announcement confirms EMPEROR as the first act revealed for the milestone edition of the festival, which has built a reputation for hosting rare, exclusive, and one-off performances since its inception.
Speaking on the announcement, festival founder Gary Stephenson says, “it’s our fifth anniversary of Fortress in 2027 and we’re pulling no punches this time. EMPEROR, one of the biggest names in black metal, will close the festival with a headlining performance to show why this band is still such a phenomenon 20 years after their last studio album. We’ve sold out every edition of Fortress so far, and we expect no less to happen in 2027. So secure those tickets, and we will drop another dozen or so worldwide live debuts, UK exclusives and eye-watering bookings very soon for you all.”
The announcement follows the sold-out fourth edition of Fortress Festival, which took place this weekend and featured an array of exclusive and rarely seen performances from OLD MAN’S CHILD, GALLOWBRAID, DØDHEIMSGARD, AKERCOCKE, WHOREDOM RIFE, ABIGAIL WILLIAMS, VINTERLAND, and many more.
With every previous edition of the festival selling out, demand for the 2027 weekend is expected to be extremely high.
