Hawxx release new music video for ‘Sacred Water’

HAWXX have released a new music video!

The London political punk metal trio have unveiled Sacred Water, a new music video taken from their second full-length album, The World Splits Open, which was released earlier this year. The track arrives as the band kick off their UK headline tour, bringing their blend of progressive metal, punk and socially conscious songwriting to audiences across the country.

The new video centres on the song’s environmental themes, exploring humanity’s relationship with water and the impact of corporate pollution on the natural world.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, vocalist Annouli shares, “this song is about our corrupted relationship with water. I live on a boat on the river Lea so being aware of the river and its movements is a big part of day to day life. One day, Thames Water flushed raw sewage through our community. It was terrifying to see this normalised, the audacity of this corporation to so easily contaminate our waters, to kill wildlife in the process, to prioritise profit and greed.”

She continues, “this song grieves for a time where our relationship to water was everything. It is also part of a thread that runs through a lot of songs on this album, the powerful state that exists on the other side of grief, that even though our natural world is collapsing, we can emerge from the doom and transform into what the earth has called us to be.”

The wider band adds, “the song starts and ends with words from the traditional Greek island song Thalassaki, and was recorded in one take live at Middle Farm Studios with Peter Miles. We were lucky enough to have the amazing Lucia Tong as a dancer on this music video, whose powerful performance embodies nature and the process of contamination.”
