Helldown release new track by track guide for ‘In Deaths Hands’

HELLDOWN have released a new track by track guide for their upcoming EP!

With the Welsh thrashers continuing to climb through the ranks and are bracing to release their blistering sophomore release, In Deaths Hands, this Friday, we exclusively asked the rising thrashers for an in-depth track by track breakdown of the EP!

The Unnamed

The basis of this song was focused around emotions, how people can lose control of their emotions and change, becoming someone they’re not. The name of the track was a slight issue, causing it to go without a name for a while, so funnily enough The Unnamed was chosen which also possesses a dark feeling hidden away inside all of us.

Mortal Shell

Mortal Shell is about how the human race are pawns of time, running around trying to find meaning to our lives, but in the end we all die. The name came from an old school book Ben read on religion, where it described humans as ‘shells for the soul’.

Heretic

Heretic is focused on a person or persons going down a dark path, and taking responsibility for death and destruction, in the hopes of infamy. The name was the easiest to decide on, as someone who goes against the grain or the norm is more often than not deemed a heretic.

Flames of Heresy

Flames of Heresy went through a couple of alterations until its final form, originally there was no theme, it was just dark words put together. However, as the band evolved, we came up with the twin guitar melody which had a very Egyptian feel. Which then inspired Ben to write an Egyptian themed song about heresy and revolution, much like METALLICA‘s Creeping Death. The name was inspired by the lyrics, igniting a revolution and casting down the old guard.

In Deaths Hands is set for release on January 17th via self-release.
