Meridian Veil sign to Season Of Mist
MERIDIAN VEIL have signed with Season Of Mist!
The new progressive extreme metal outfit features members of THE AGONIST, CRYPTOPSY, SEVEN SPIRES and touring LEPROUS cellist Raphael Weinroth-Browne, with a debut album scheduled for release in 2027. The announcement marks the first official reveal of the band, a project more than two decades in the making that brings together four established figures from across the Canadian metal scene.
The band is comprised of guitarist Danny Marino (THE AGONIST), vocalist Matt McGachy (CRYPTOPSY), drummer Dylan Gowan (SEVEN SPIRES) and cellist Raphael Weinroth-Browne (LEPROUS).
Speaking about the signing and formation of the band, Danny Marino says, “we are very happy to sign with Season of Mist. When Matt and I first met during the early 2000s, we wanted to make music together. From the beginning, the idea was for MERIDIAN VEIL to be deeply emotional. Even though our upcoming debut album gets heavy, there’s a deep longing that runs through the cautionary tale at its core.”
Vocalist Matt McGachy adds, “I remember going home and feeling super excited. Singing in this band is freeing for me. I’m happy to show that side of myself.” Drummer Dylan Gowan says, “when you have a band that involves writers from different styles, you get something really unique. MERIDIAN VEIL is progressive metal with a very dark atmosphere and thought-provoking lyrics.”
Meanwhile, Raphael Weinroth-Browne comments, “upon hearing the demos for our upcoming album, I was struck by the quality of the songwriting. I believe MERIDIAN VEIL captures the best aspects of 2000s death metal and prog metal with a distinctly modern approach.”
