New Amon Amarth album in the works?
Great news – death metal vikings AMON AMARTH could be in the studio!Tweets posted by frontman and part time movie star Johan Hegg confirm that the longboat rowing heroes are currently shacked up in a cosy cabin in the woods writing and rehearsing new material, hopefully for a crushing new addition to the Swedish warrior’s discography.

Though no official announcement has yet been made and, judging by the above tweet, the band have only just began their song writing ritual. AMON AMARTH fans can breathe a bittersweet sigh of relief as this comes a whole 2 years after the 2013 release of Deceiver of The Gods and after the announcement last March of drummer Fredrik Andersson’s departure from the band. Fredrik left after 17 years citing private reasons. Will the absence of their original drummer affect the sound of the band? Hopefully we will soon find out. Not to worry, the team here at Distorted Sound are just as excited and will keep you updated on any and all developments in this Viking saga!
