Phil Anselmo Apologises For “White Power” Outburst At Dimebash

DOWN and former PANTERA frontman Phil Anselmo has apologised for comments he made at last week’s Dimebash event in Hollywood.

Following a performance of the PANTERA classic Walk, audience members were shocked to see Anselmo shout “White Power!” and give what appeared to be a Nazi salute.

Anselmo later brushed off the incident, claiming it to be an “inside joke” based on the consumption of white wine at the event.

“Ok folks, I’ll own this one, but dammit, I was joking, and the inside joke of the night was because we were drinking f****** white wine, hahaha – of all f****** things”, Anselmo wrote in the YouTube comments of a video showing his actions, “Some of y’all need to thicken up your skin. There’s plenty of f****** to pick on with a more realistic agenda. I f****** love everyone, I f****** loathe everyone, and that’s that. No apologies from me.”

 

The heavy metal world soon rallied against Anselmo in the days following the incident, with MACHINE HEAD vocalist Robb Flynn posting a video on YouTube criticising his actions, and saying “Goodbye, Phil Anselmo. And to the metal community that backs this bullshit, see you later. Count me out. I want no part of this anymore.”

Anselmo has now released a full apology video, claiming to be “thousand percent apologetic to anyone that took offense to what [he] said.”
