PREMIERE: Eyes Beyond Reflection – In The Cards

Distorted Sound is pleased to premiere the brand new EP from Staffordshire alt-rockers IN THE CARDS!

After sharing the stages with the likes of ARCANE ROOTS, DREAM STATE and MALLORY KNOX, momentum is certainly on the Stoke-on-Trent based quartet’s side and their brand new EP is sure to capitalise on this. Titled Eyes Beyond Reflection, the new EP is the debut effort from the band and we here at Distorted Sound are delighted to premiere the record in its entirety ahead of its release tomorrow.

Enjoyed what you’ve just heard? Well, we’ve got even more for you! To cast some insight into the mood and vibe of each of the EP’s five tracks, we reached out to IN THE CARDS to give us their lowdown, track by track, for their new opus!

Mazes

Mazes discusses the desire within people to become more than what they are now and ultimately become better versions of their current selves. It’s difficult to see over the walls of the ‘Maze’ that is life, but we need to be careful not to miss opportunities when they come knocking.

Beautiful Silence

This song looks directly at how performing in a band provides an escape in the context of everyday life. Normal life doesn’t stop, and at times it can get overwhelming and difficult to contend with but for the moments that you’re on stage performing it feels like the world has fallen into a Beautiful Silence.

The Only Thing

The Only Thing focuses on the issues of a past relationship with someone who becomes obsessive and doesn’t allow you to move on and find happiness. The lyrics also discuss the effects that the relationship is having on the other person.

Careful Eyes

It basically calls people out on their fake behaviours and hidden agendas. Sometimes they don’t really understand how their behaviour and what they say and do to people can affect them and how much damage can be caused if you are reckless with other people’s emotions. They song says basically “I see what you’re doing, you’re hurting me and others and eventually it will come back to haunt you”.

Hollow Hearts

This song tackles heartbreak when you least expect it, and the anger and confusion that comes with experiencing such a complicated mix of emotions at one time. At times you feel empowered with a bizarre sense of freedom, sometimes you feel lost without the person you used to know and sometimes you’re left wondering if missing someone is actually such a bad thing, whether they were good for you or not.

Eyes Beyond Reflection is set for release on June 22nd via self-release.
