PREMIERE: Headcase – Knives

We here at Distorted Sound are delighted to premiere the brand new single from KNIVES!

The new song, titled Headcase, is taken from the Bristol-based post-punk band’s upcoming new EP, What We See In Their Eyes, which is scheduled to be released in May this year, via self-release.

The new song, which we are premiering, is the second single to be released from the upcoming EP, following on from Doppelgänger, which was released last month.

Speaking about the new single, the band tells us, Headcase was born as an objective criticism of the punk attitude. While we in Knives don’t claim to be ‘punks’, we do recognise a disconnect between the application of the term ‘punk’ which leads to oppressive behaviour in the name of ‘going against the grain’. It’s a first hand account of an experience we all witnessed in our community and something we strive as a band to stand against. The idea for the music video was to use visual concepts from the 80s / 90s to create this juxtaposition with the golden age of punk music. Using VHS and vibrant colours gives it that aged feeling which is contrasting to the music.”

What We See In Their Eyes is set for release on May 3rd via self-release. Pre-orders are available now and can be purchased here.
