Protest The Hero announce new album ‘Within’
PROTEST THE HERO have announced a brand new album!
The Canadian progressive metal innovators will release their new album Within on July 17th, marking their first full-length release in six years and the follow-up to 2020’s Palimpsest. Released independently, the record sees the band expanding on the technical precision and fearless experimentation that has defined their career, while delivering what they describe as their most personal material to date.
Artwork for Within was created by Martin Wittfooth, while the album was mixed by Adam “Nolly” Getgood [PERIPHERY, HAKEN, SIKTH]. The record was produced across multiple locations, with longtime collaborator Cameron McLellan handling bass and drum production, and orchestral compositions contributed by William Lamoureux.
Alongside the announcement, PROTEST THE HERO have also released a brand new single titled Mouthpiece, accompanied by an official music video. Speaking on the new single, vocalist Rody Walker explains, “on the record focused on the micro, Mouthpiece is the only song from a macro perspective. This is not without reason. It is about the controlling powers that have convinced us that everything needs to be divided into binaries despite the fact that very few things truly exist within them. It describes a world of brilliant colour reduced to black and white by charlatans like podcasters and corporate media. It suggests the only true binary we should pay attention to is the very wealthy and everyone else.”

Following the album’s release, the band will return to the UK and Europe this summer, including appearances at RADAR Festival and Brutal Assault.
