Quantum Pig release new music video for ‘Statement of Intent’

QUANTUM PIG have released a brand new music video!

The video, for the track Statement of Intent, is taken from the duo’s upcoming debut album Songs of Industry and Sunshine, which is scheduled for release in February.

Speaking about the track, lyricist Mark Stevenson says, “lyrically it has it’s roots in the 19th century and the birth of solar power, including direct quotes from Augustin Mouchot, inventor of the first solar-powered engine, and from an 1876 edition of Popular Science magazine praising his work: ‘Future generations after the coal mines have been exhausted will have recourse to the sun for heat and energy. The sun will be the fuel of the future. That foresight from over a century ago really struck me, especially as it’s a dream that’s finally being realised, despite the vested interests of the dirty status quo.”

On the video, multi-instrumentalist Ian Faragher adds, “the video is a about the transition from old ways of thinking, symbolised by the hollowed out derelict we shot the principal footage in, and the promise of the new, represented by all those holographic screens and other CGI jiggery-pokery. This track contains perhaps my favourite lyric on the album: ‘Our engine should be the whole of the sky’ – it just says it all and makes a great slogan too. It’s very QUANTUM PIG – big, optimistic and slightly left-field. We’re just the sort of band to release a single about solar power. Musically Statement of Intent has all the essential ingredients of a QUANTUM PIG track. It’s prog, both musically and lyrically, it’s rock, the guitars are turned up to 11, but it’s unashamedly hooky and singalong too.”
