Schandmaul announce new album ‘Knüppel aus dem Sack’

SCHANDMAUL have announced a new album!

Titled Knüppel aus dem Sack, the upcoming album from the German medieval folk rock band is the follow-up to 2019’s Artus and is scheduled to be released in June this year, via Napalm Records.

Speaking about the upcoming album, vocalist/guitarist/pianist/accordionist Thomas Lindner says, “with the eleventh album we announce ourselves loud and clear back after the forced silence!” Guitarist Martin Duckstein adds, “we report back! A rocking album, nevertheless unmistakably SCHANDMAUL. Fresh wind came additionally by producer Simon Michael, who tickled unexpected sides from the band…”

“The new SCHANDMAUL album is really on fire and with the first single we literally take the ‘cudgel out of the sack’! Look forward with us to a fantastic video, and that we can finally rock together again at concerts. We have the music for it in our luggage,” says drummer Stefan Brunner. And bassist Matthias Richter says, “out of the cultural lockdown, out of the cold of winter, out of rigidity. Time to go out again, to meet and move. To new music, peacefully united. May the album be a ray of hope, especially now in these sad times. Peace.”

Alongside the announcement of the new album, the band have released a new music video for the first song lifted from the upcoming album; the title track Knüppel aus dem Sack.

Speaking about the new song, Linder says, “the first song lets the cat… the ‘cudgel out of the sack’ right away: Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to dance!” Duckstein adds, “THE rock anthem of the album! Already a live banger that will find its permanent place at concerts!” And Richter says, “SCHANDMAUL and fans united, already tested live many times and now also united in one video! Your loyalty has carried us through many difficult times, it is now time to finally rejoice together again.”
