Shooting Daggers release new music video for ‘My Oh My’

SHOOTING DAGGERS have released a new music video!

The London-based hardcore punk trio’s new single, My Oh My, is taken from their upcoming new mini-album The Real Life Thing, set for release on June 5th via New Heavy Sounds.

Speaking on the new single, the band states, “My Oh My is a song about hope. We must keep faith, because hope and resilience is what drives change, and we have to hold on to it. It’s about freedom for every country suffering the consequences of hegemony and the greed for power. It’s also about freedom for all animals, and an end to suffering in all its forms.”

Continuing to speak about the video, the band adds, “focusing on the beauty around us can help us feel grounded and reminds us to keep fighting for a better future and that, if we come together, real change is possible.

With this video we wanted to capture the everyday beauty that surrounds us. Sal has this cool old handheld video camera that she brings with her every time we travel with the band to always filming around. The original idea was to use some of that footage to make the video but unfortunately we realised most of it was lost just a few weeks away from the deadline we had planned, so we had to think of a way to make it happen regardless.

We filmed most of the main footage in one day, we met and went to all of our favourite spots. We were so lucky, it was a beautiful sunny day after weeks of rain, we ate delicious vegan food in the park and ended the day playing scrabble at the local pub. We had the best time making this happen. Raquel filmed most of the B roll, carrying that little camera around everywhere with her for a few days and trying to capture all the small, beautiful moments we encounter in daily life.

There are so many little moments that can be easily missed, even simply on our way to and back from work, and it’s often because we’re too busy looking at our phones or caught up in our own thoughts to truly appreciate them. We asked our friend Fernando J Martinez to bring our ideas and vision together, as we loved the work he did on our single Wipe Out, and again he didn’t disappoint!”
