As all you loyal SLAYER fans are probably aware, their new album will be gracing our ears on the 11th of September.

The iconic thrasher’s have just released the artwork for their 11th studio album, titled Repentless, and needless to say, it’s just as brutal and offensive to Jesus as we’ve come to expect, sticking to the same fiery, bloody colour scheme and hell inspired backdrop as previous albums, including Hell Awaits and South of Heaven.

The artwork is a collaboration between Tom Araya, Kerry King and Brazilian digital artist Marcelo Vasco, who, active since the mid-90s, has worked with DIMMU BORGIR , MACHINEHEAD and BORKNAGAR, to name only a few. Tom Araya is quoted as saying : “We had a number of submitted ideas for the cover artwork, and we felt Marcelo’s was the best. We made some suggestions and the result is an awesome album cover.“

Repentless is the band’s first album since 2009’s Grammy nominated World Painted Blood and will be the first album since we lost Jeff Hanneman, and will also be the band’s first release with Nuclear Blast records.

With Gary Holt on guitar and Paul Bostaph on drums, this will be a new era for SLAYER, and SLAYER fans. Loudwire has already named it as one of the “30 Most Anticipated Rock and Metal Albums of 2015”. The album’s title track will be released digitally on Friday, the 19th of June, so ready your iTunes accounts and your ears! When the Stillness Comes, another track from the album, is already available online, and should keep you going until the 19th. In fact, you can use Distorted Sound’s handy ”search” tool to find it, just type in ”Slayer”.

The band have also released the lyrics for Repentless, which you can find below. Some have already judged the song as ”weak” due to the lyrics, commenting on the band’s Facebook page saying it’s disappointing and as it’s meant to be a tribute to Jeff Hanneman, could have been written a lot better,by a 12 year old. Harsh. Kerry King, who wrote the song, had this to say about the track: ”I said, ‘You know what, I should write something about how I think Jeff looked at the world, because he looked at the world exactly how Slayer looked at the world.’ Plus little ‘Jeff-isms.’ It was both easy and difficult. The difficult part was doing it justice; I didn’t want to just throw it together. I wanted it to be solid, as deep as it could be without getting personal.” He has been calling the song his ”HannemAnthem”.

SLAYER will be touring the globe in support of the album from now until the end of September. UK tour dates are as follows :
