The Drew Thomson Foundation release new song ‘Barbed Wire’
THE DREW THOMSON FOUNDATION have released a brand new song!
The new song, titled Barbed Wire, is taken from the project by SINGLE MOTHERS frontman Drew Thomson‘s upcoming self-titled debut album which is scheduled to be released in September.
“Barbed Wire is a song I wrote thinking about how weird it is to keep getting older but not feeling like you’re growing up,” Thomson explains. “It’s a small bracket of time, those ‘in-between’ years, and I’ve found myself caught in them now wondering how someone is supposed to act whose life has diverted from their peer group, and is finding it hard to relate.”

Continuing to talk about the album, Thomson continues, “by drinking a decade away, I also pushed away a lot of people close to me. People had been telling me to quit for years and I never listened to them. You really have to want to get sober and believe it’s for the best. I don’t ask anyone else in the band to avoid drinking, but if I have one or two I slip back into that other world, so I just avoid it completely. It’s been a huge benefit. I write more, I work better, I’m less reactive, and easier to be around. I just have to handle self-doubt on my own. I don’t want to base everything I do around sobriety, but it’s been the biggest thing in my life lately and made everything with the FOUNDATION possible.”
The Drew Thomson Foundation is set for release on September 6th via Dine Alone Records.
