The Night Eternal announce new album ‘Cold Velvet’
THE NIGHT ETERNAL have announced a brand new album!
The German melancholic heavy metal outfit will release Cold Velvet on August 21st via Metal Blade Records. The upcoming record follows on from 2023’s Fatale, continuing the band’s dark, 70s and 80s-inspired heavy metal sound that they have refined since their 2021 debut Moonlit Cross.
Cold Velvet was recorded between May and December 2025 at Church Of Sound Studios near Munich, Germany, with production, recording and mixing handled by Michael Zech (SECRETS OF THE MOON).
Speaking about the album, the band comments, “with this album we set out to open a new musical chapter in the story of THE NIGHT ETERNAL. Each song stands strong on its own, yet together they form a cohesive narrative – unfolding through rising tension, shifting atmospheres, and unexpected twists and turns that guide the listener from beginning to end.”
In advance of the new album, the band have unveiled a new single in the form of Where This World Ends. Speaking about the new single, they add, “this track gets straight to the core of what THE NIGHT ETERNAL stands for. Dramatic, dark riffing is paired with haunting vocal melodies that linger long after the final note. While the track forms a seamless bridge between the band’s previous work and the present, it also introduces new sonic elements, including subtle synth-guitar textures inspired by IRON MAIDEN’s Somewhere in Time, woven discreetly into the background.”
