Tobias’ Accident at BYH Festival

Tobias Sammet frontman for German power metal legends Edguy suffered a terrific accident yesterday at the Bang Your Head festival in Germany. During the 5th song of Edguy’s set, Tobias slipped and fell off the stage into the photographer’s pit hitting the concrete floor and received numerous injuries which are revealed to be several injuries which turned out to be a fracture of his nose, a severe hip contusion and several abrasions and cuts. Despite appearing to be in severe pain, Tobias and the rest of Edguy continued to play their full set which continued for another hour after the incident.

Post performance it can be revealed that Tobias is okay yet confused to how the incident occurred. From Edguy’s official Facebook page Tobias states; “Thanx for your kind wishes, I am alright. I do not have a clue how it happened, the stage wasn’t damp, my shoes were alright, I do not have to mention that I was completely sober as this must have been obvious to everyone. I have no clue how it happened…”

Edguy released their ninth studio album, The Age of the Joker, last August and now currently completing a circuit of festivals followed by a tour with Deep Purple in Germany later this year
