US Metal Alliance tour cancelled after Entombed A.D. are kicked off
North American metal heads who were looking forward to 2015’s Metal Alliance tour featuring DEICIDE, ENTOMBED A.D., HATE ETERNAL, BLACK CROWN INITIATE and SVART CROWN had been left scratching their heads as on the 7th of June, with half of the tour dates behind them, ENTOMBED A.D., posted this on their Facebook page;
”Attention US headbangers! We got pulled of the U.S. Tour for reasons we don’t yet know. On our way to Sweden now. Never in 30 years have we experienced something like this. But we will be back soon!! Cheers!!”
With little explanation from those involved with the tour, no one was sure what to think. Most speculated that ENTOMBED A.D. had been kicked off the tour by DEICIDE, who are no stranger to death metal drama as in 2013, BROKEN HOPE were scrapped as the opening act to DEICIDE‘s after 3 fans were brutally assaulted at a show in El Paso. This situation lead to somewhat nasty words being shared between Glen Benton of DEICDE and Jeremy Wagner of BROKEN HOPE on the band’s facebook pages and other internet outlets, with members of BROKEN HOPE being accused of diva behavior and members of DEICIDE being accused of being unprofessional. DEICIDE responded to the speculation surrounding ENTOMBED A.D.’s departure from the tour by saying;
”What happened with this tour is this…the agents put together a package that the local promoters had no faith in and couldn’t afford and we’re all asking to cancel their dates, so to keep it going and finish it out ENTOMBED A.D. were told to go home not by us. But by the agents that set up this tour so the local promoters could still do the shows, we are all in this mess together and I can assure you we will never get involved in anything like this ever again.”
Although it as recently announced that the rest of the Metal Alliance tour had been canceled, the reason being ”unforeseen financial issues”, DEICIDE will play the remaining dates as headliners with HATE ETERNAL, BLACK CROWN INITIATE, SVART CROWN and LORNA SHORE joining them. It seems local promoters bit off more than they could chew and feared losing money which lead to ENTOMBED A.D. being taken off of the bill. It still strikes as strange that the breakdown of the original tour has been blamed on financial issues, yet it has been possible for it to continue minus only one band and the Metal Alliance name. Glen Benton of DEICIDE has made it clear that he is not happy with Metal Alliance organizers, saying
“We had nothing to do with entombed being kicked off tour blame Metal Alliance, their f*****g mess!
“METAL ALLIANCE IS WHO YOU SHOULD BE ANGRY WITH, THIS F*****G TOUR IS THERE BIG F*****G MESS, NOT DEICIDE WE ARE ONLY GUILTY OF AGREEING TO DO THE TOUR!”
As of yet, the organizers and promoters involved with the Metal Alliance tour have not responded.
