Assumption announce new album ‘Paradox Of The Arrow’

ASSUMPTION have announced a brand new album!

The Italian death doom outfit have announced their third studio album, Paradox Of The Arrow, which is scheduled for release on November 13th via 20 Buck Spin. The upcoming record follows 2022’s Hadean Tides and sees the band continuing to expand upon their distinctive blend of crushing death doom, atmospheric passages and psychedelic flourishes.

Named after Zeno‘s paradox of motion, Paradox Of The Arrow explores themes of movement, inertia and time, with the band continuing to push their death doom sound into increasingly expansive territory. The record was mixed and mastered by Claudio Mulas, while the artwork was created by Mariya Popyk.

To coincide with the announcement, the band have released Tombs Upon The Sun, the first single to be lifted from the album. Speaking about the track, the band says, “Tombs Upon The Sun was first meant to be the title of the new album before eventually setting for Zeno‘s more apt ‘Paradox’ concept. This song is one of the most ‘accessible’ ones on an album that features our most varied material yet. Each song tells a story of its own. As for the lyrics to Tombs…, they depict an imaginary, reverse oceanic world to which our spirit is set to return.”
