Europe announce new album ‘Come This Madness’
EUROPE have announced a brand new album!
After nine years, the Swedish rock icons will return with Come This Madness, the follow-up to 2017’s Walk This Earth, which is set for release on September 25th via Silver Lining Music / Hell & Back Recordings.
Come This Madness was recorded at RMV Studio in Stockholm and produced by Tom Dalgety (GHOST, RAMMSTEIN, PIXIES), with mixing handled by Mike Fraser (AC/DC, VAN HALEN, METALLICA). The album also features guest appearances from Tobias Forge (GHOST) and Michael Åkerfeldt (OPETH).
To coincide with the announcement, EUROPE have also shared a brand new single and music video for One On One, marking the first taste of the upcoming record. Speaking about the new single, frontman Joey Tempest says, “One On One is definitely one of my favorite tracks from the album. The power and feel is fresh, but some of the melodies bring me back to where it all began. Lyrically, it’s perhaps not filled with as much escapism as early EUROPE. These lyrics automatically ended up being more of a reflection of the times we live in today. Ever since One On One was just a demo, we’ve stayed with it…never gave up on it, and elevated it to a place where it belongs: a high-flying, classic hard rock track.”
The new single is accompanied by a striking and unconventional music video, directed by Patric Ullaeus and starring acclaimed actor Peter Stormare (Fargo, The Big Lebowski, Minority Report). Shot in a stark, cinematic setting, the video centres on a single character pushed to emotional and physical extremes. Tempest adds, “we always knew Peter loved rock music, and when his name came up it just felt right. We wanted to approach this from a different angle – something more stripped back and unexpected.”
