ALBUM REVIEW: …and everything in between – Unprocessed

German genre splicers UNPROCESSED have been on a hot streak since 2022’s Gold soared in popularity and opened many new and exciting doors for the talented outfit to show what they are made of on bigger stages. Striking while the iron is hot, the quartet have unveiled the highly anticipated follow-up entitled …and everything in between which is available now. Prepare yourself for some turbulence.

Hell immediately puts you on the backfoot with a sudden burst of heaviness interwoven within their signature sprawling technicality. Powerful melodies have their own part to play in the arrangement but this track is the angriest we’ve heard UNPROCESSED in quite some time. Lore dials up the chaos with a flurry of frenetic, groove-drenched instrumentation. Venomous screams enter the fray to further elevate the intensity. Most listeners should be relatively acquainted with Thrash by now considering how quickly it exploded in terms of views and streams. Lightning quick finger work from Manuel Gardner Fernandes provides that highlight reel moment which will undoubtedly continue to astound during their future touring cycles.

Blackbone returns to the cathartic, whimsical harmonies which brought Gold such acclaim, maintaining the grit and vigour presented thus far, especially in the latter stages. It was a no-brainer decision dropping this track prior to the full package. Die On The Cross Of The Martyr showcases some tapping mastery neatly slotted into the multi-layered offering. A huge chorus segment soon follows ushering in more experimental wildness. Glass is UNPROCESSED at their brilliant and emotive best, meticulously building in stature as it progresses. The melodies are utterly addictive and cleverly tee up the crushing breakdown section.

Abysm lets the vocal work lead the way as pulsing synths offer a dramatic backdrop. The track keeps you on your toes, switching between seismic waves of aggression and beautifully crafted fret gymnastics. I Wish I Wasn’t brings back the infectious rhythms to get your head bopping before descending to a level of blistering savagery that SLIPKNOT would be proud of. Purgatory is unnerving and invigorating in equal measure, gliding through a string of impressive riffing that possesses an underlying darkness – a fitting closer for what has been quite the journey.

UNPROCESSED have brought everything we know and love to the table and then spiked it with a raw viciousness to add another frightening dimension to their fearless ingenuity. …and everything in between is a masterclass of innovation that is guaranteed to delight their existing fanbase as well as turn the heads of those who have perhaps overlooked their talents up to this point. If this release is anything to go by then who knows where the next step in their exciting evolution may take us.
