INTRODUCING: I Fight Bears

Heralding from South Wales, the 5 piece I FIGHT BEARS take thick, bold metal riffs and batter them into a mixture of deep, aggressive vocals and pounding rhythm. Taking influence from big names like LAMB OF GOD, PARKWAY DRIVE and KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, the band have no problem with throwing the punches with the high energy, colossal sound they produce. Infusing metalcore and more traditional heavy metal, the guys push to make music that is bold, brimming with personality that feels fresh and untamed.

For sure, there’s an air of something brilliant on the horizon for this band – able to come across as both entertaining and genuine as a band, as well as backing that up with solid tunes, I FIGHT BEARS are on a strong footing with fans of hard, heavy, ferocious sounds.

Forming back in 2015, the band have put in the effort and caught the attention of many in their live shows. Specifically, the guys come from Bridgend, many of you may recognise this as the birthplace of bands such as FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE. In fact, the first two singles the band released were recorded at Tidy Studios with Gav Burrough (FFAF), and the mastering of their much awaited self-titled first album from Michael Paget (BFMV). Even more impressively, the band’s album was almost totally self-recorded, demonstrating a careful control over their material and their sound.

Speaking to Distorted Sound about self-recording, bassist Drew Hamley says, “It had it’s good and bad moments in equal measure. The good part was having the time and creative freedom to form and sculpt our own brand of music the way that we wanted it. The only negative aspect I feel is that we took longer to reach our goal because we weren’t under pressure to finish production. That’s not so much a bad thing as it gave us more thinking time to correct anything we felt wasn’t working.”

Having created an album that truly validates their skills and passion, I FIGHT BEARS are set to have an incredible year ahead. Their level of quality is consistently high, full of fight and promises never to disappoint.
