Nephilim release new track by track guide for ‘Demonic Society’

NEPHILIM have released a new track by track guide for their upcoming album!

Emerging UK metallers, NEPHILIM reveal their debut album, Demonic Society, this Friday. With a sound that draws from AVENGED SEVENFOLD, TRIVIUM, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and ASKING ALEXANDRIA, the ascending quintet are set to rise. We exclusively asked the northern riff beasts for an in-depth track by track breakdown of the album.

Demonic Society

Demonic Society is a very sinister sounding instrumental which sets the tone for the rest of the album. It is the introduction song that will capture people’s attention and intrigue them. We plan to use this as the song we walk out on stage too.

Death Takes Today

Death Takes Today is about someone trying to outrun the demons and lies in this world. The chorus represents a supreme leader beckoning the masses to follow and symbolises how easily swayed people are due to the media.

Created by Design

Created by Design is about the internal conflict of a soldier who loses their human side and blindly becomes a killing machine. In the process, he realises that we are just numbers in the grand scheme of it all; puppets on a string controlled by the government.

Remember Me

Remember Me is about being haunted by your past. Sometimes people feel like the world is against them and they can’t move on. This a reminder that there are always people who will be there for you during dark times and that it is okay to ask for help.

Beyond the Gates

Beyond the Gates is about suffering in purgatory. The song was written as though the listener has just entered this alternate state and the lyrics explain what has happened. This is the longest track on the album and by far the calmest.

Fuelled by Hate

Fuelled by Hate is about a toxic relationship and the struggles that people face. The lyrics entail a story of abuse, a subject we think there should be more awareness about. Both of the characters are consumed by extreme love and hate for each other.

No Place to Hide

No Place to Hide is about a possession. The character is trying to keep a demon contained but, as the song progresses, it gains more control causing its host to commit murder. This is the first song we wrote.

Breath of Blood

Breath of Blood is about a vampire that needs to feed before their time runs out. It is quite a literal song but it can be interpreted as a metaphor for negative people who are ‘bloodsuckers’. These people thrive on pulling others down and similarly feeding gives the vampire life.

Wicked Times

Wicked Times is about overcoming the sense of feeling hopeless and lost. It’s a very striking song purely for the contrast it has in comparison to our other material. The lyric video contains footage of World War One and truly captures the essence of the song meaning.

The Abyss

The Abyss is about dealing with losing a friend to drug addiction. Ultimately, the character is faced with the decision between following down the same path or escaping from that fate. In doing the latter, they have to live with not being able to save their friend

Demonic Society is set for release on September 20th via self-release.
